Accountable

Doug has always enjoyed taking on challenging work responsibilities and could be depended on to get them accomplished in a successful, detailed manner ... and on time.

Logical

Growing up on a farm, Doug learned that hard work and common sense were valuable commodities. He used those lessons as the core of his 48-year working career with two family-owned businesses in Salina.

Trustworthy

During his work and volunteer life, Doug has been placed in many situations requiring fiscal responsibility and trust. He is proud and grateful that he could be entrusted with those duties.

SALINA

"Most of Salina's growth in the past 25 years has been toward the southern area of town. However, in the past few years, it has been nice to see the downtown upgrades and revitalization projects which are creating a new, vibrant atmosphere in this great city."

WHY DOUG ALT IS A CANDIDATE FOR

THE SALINA CITY COMMISSION

DOUG ALT:

"As a governing entity, the City Commission should guide the staff, where needed, in decision-making situations without micro-managing."

"I am persistent by nature and like to see projects completed in a timely manner. My commitment as a City Commissioner will be to pursue those situations with a respectful, yet accountable, approach."

His Vision for Salina

Vision No. 1: Economic Stability. Salina seems to have fewer peaks and valleys than most cities of the same size. Let's continue on this path.

Vision No. 2: Population Growth. Help Salina achieve a census goal of 50,000. It seems we have that number but have fallen just short in recent census counts. Let's grow the city.

Vision No. 3: Local Education. Support the USD 305 and post-secondary education entities in the City and their respective teachers and staffs. Let's promote vital education.

Vision No. 4: Cooperative Relationships. Continue to promote cooperation between the City and County Commissions to develop some cost-saving synergies. Let's work together.

Tuesday . October 5

City Commission Candidate Forum

DOUG ALT: Kudos to Smoky Hills PBS, the League of Women Voters, and the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce for hosting a well-organized and efficient candidate forum on October 5. If you missed watching it "live," it was recorded on Facebook for later viewing.

I'm ready to work for you and this great city and would appreciate your vote on November 2. THANK YOU!
