Doug has always enjoyed taking on challenging work responsibilities and could be depended on to get them accomplished in a successful, detailed manner ... and on time.
Growing up on a farm, Doug learned that hard work and common sense were valuable commodities. He used those lessons as the core of his 48-year working career with two family-owned businesses in Salina.
During his work and volunteer life, Doug has been placed in many situations requiring fiscal responsibility and trust. He is proud and grateful that he could be entrusted with those duties.
"Most of Salina's growth in the past 25 years has been toward the southern area of town. However, in the past few years, it has been nice to see the downtown upgrades and revitalization projects which are creating a new, vibrant atmosphere in this great city."

I've known Doug since we were kids ... playing summer baseball together in Manhattan. Because I've always respected him for his honest, no-nonsense, straight-forward attitude in dealing with issues, I believe Doug would be a great City Commissioner. He has the integrity and sincerity to do the right thing, regardless of how difficult it may be, so clearly illustrated by his donating a kidney to a relative in need.
